A robot that looks impressive in a short video may still be a poor fit for the job you have in mind. Before comparing brands, write down three things you want a humanoid to do. Include where it will work, who will operate it and how much help you expect it to need.

Buy the delivered configuration

Manufacturers can sell several editions with the same family name. Development access, sensors, hands, software, warranty and supported functions may differ. Ask for the exact model and a written list of included equipment. A feature available in a research edition should not be assumed to come with the standard machine.

Unitree’s published G1 and R1 information illustrates why this matters. Its product pages distinguish configurations, and its store directs buyers seeking secondary development to EDU editions. The manufacturer also says some functions shown are still being developed. Read the current documentation for the particular edition being offered.

Ask how the demonstration works

Was a person controlling the robot? Did it follow a prepared script? Did it perceive the scene and choose its own actions? All three can have useful applications, but they answer different buying questions. Ask to see the task you care about, including an ordinary interruption or changed object position, and record what the operator does.

For a home product, check which chores work today and which require assistance. 1X describes NEO as arriving with basic autonomy for early owners, with scheduled remote supervision for unfamiliar tasks. Its public order page describes a US rollout beginning in 2026 and international delivery later. Those statements do not establish a Nigerian delivery date or support offer.

Confirm the Nigerian ownership route

  • Who is the seller, and are they authorised to offer the specific product?
  • Will the manufacturer or seller ship that configuration to Nigeria?
  • Who handles importation, taxes, clearance and delivery to your city?
  • Does warranty cover the machine when operated here?
  • Where are repairs performed, and who pays shipping for a repair?
  • Are software, subscriptions, spare parts and support available for your location?

A country in a store selector is useful to investigate; it is not a substitute for written fulfilment terms. Neither is a global headline price a complete Nigerian ownership cost.

Make a short, useful brief

Include your city, personal or business use, three intended tasks, budget range, timing and any preferred model. Keep detailed home plans and sensitive security information out of an initial message. You can add site details through an agreed process once they are needed.
